When a young pre-school girl was caught praying in a public school.. she was immediately rebuked by the teacher and told that prayer is illegal and she was sent to the principal's office. Again, the principal shamed this young girl for what she did. Her response to the principle was astonishing... The little girl looked into the eyes of the principal and said. "God started talking to me first, I don't want to ignore God."
Little did this girl know as well as many adult Christians; true prayer always originates with God. God is the instigator to meaningful prayer. Often, God will use circumstances to provoke the need for prayer. But more often than not... The Holy Spirit is the initiator to meaningful prayer with God.
Prayer is not a matter of changing things externally, but one of changing internally. Very often, our inclination is to dictate to God what consequences we want as a condition of our obedience to Him. Ultimately, it is not external things that hinder our prayers... its the internal wranglings of the heart... WHAT WE REGARD IN OUR HEARTS... MAY LEAVE US UNGUARDED.
True prayer is wrought by Christ in us. As we journey with Jesus in prayer; we come to appreciate and appropriate His zeal for the glory of God. Very often there are vast areas of stubbornness and ignorance that the Holy Spirit continues to challenge. This is why Christ is so demanding of our attention towards prayer.
There is a perception that PRAYER has been removed from public schools. That perception is a deception. To remove prayer from public schools would be to remove the Holy Spirit... that would be impossible seeing that God is omnipresent. Prayer is alive and well where ever Christians are... YES... PRAYER IS OUTLAWED IN OUR LAND... BUT NOT OUT DONE. AMEN !!
